Susan Burton is the founder of A New Way of Life Reentry Project, an organization in South Los Angeles that provides housing, employment assistance, legal services, and leadership development to women who are rebuilding their lives after incarceration. Susan believes that if women had access to support and resources, they would be able to thrive, and they would not return to prison. Since its founding in 1998, A New Way of Life has provided housing and hope to more than 1,200 formerly incarcerated women and helped reunite over 400 women with their children, while the organization's reentry legal clinic has provided pro bono legal services to more than 3,000 community members with conviction histories.
