We seek a just society, and justice demands racial, gender, and economic equity
CCF provides a platform for self-empowerment for women who engage in its College & Career Programs and the whole community of people affected by the criminal justice system to advocate for policy changes that advance social justice in their communities. Through a mix of programming and campaigns, CCF's Policy & Advocacy work operates at the New York City, New York State, and Federal level.
CCF was one of the first organizations in the U.S. to focus on higher education as its core reentry strategy. Because of CCF’s work, higher education is now considered one of the most cost-effective means to improve one’s quality of life in reentry.
Throughout all of this work, CCF centers women with justice involvement as experts on the impact of the criminal justice system on their lives and the lives of their families and communities. Through our Policy & Advocacy work, CCF provides leadership opportunities by inviting women to participate in formal advocacy training (WISH), public policy testimony, rallies, civic engagement, formal and informal mentoring, and op-ed or blog post writing.
