Currently Employed Resources

New York State has instituted additional Paid Leave based for New Yorkers under mandatory or precautionary quarantine due to COVID-19. The policy is based on the size of your employer (see below) and you must apply for the paid leave. Application and more info can be found here.

Employers with 10 or fewer employees and a net income less than $1 million: 

Will provide job protection for the duration of the quarantine order and guarantee their workers access to Paid Family Leave and disability benefits (short-term disability) for the period of quarantine including wage replacement for their salaries up to $150,000.  

Employers with 11-99 employees and employers with 10 or fewer employees and a net income greater than $1 million: 

Will provide at least 5 days of paid sick leave, job protection for the duration of the quarantine order, and guarantee their workers access to Paid Family Leave and disability benefits (short-term disability) for the period of quarantine including wage replacement for their salaries up to $150,000.  

Employers with 100 or more employees, as well as all public employers (regardless of number of employees:

Will provide at least 14 days of paid sick leave and guarantee job protection for the duration of the quarantine order. 

Unemployment Resources

There are new and/or expanded benefits available to unemployed individuals, including those who traditionally are not eligible for unemployment benefits. If you are already signed up for unemployment insurance benefits, your benefits will be updated automatically. If you need to file a new claim, you may do so here

  • Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits will be expanded by $600 per week from March 27, 2020-July 31, 2020. You may also qualify to receive 39 weeks of UI benefits.

  • Under the recently passed federal bill, there is a new type of unemployment insurance called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), that provides payment to workers not traditionally eligible for unemployment benefits (self-employed, independent contractors, workers with limited work history, and others) who are unable to work as a direct result of the coronavirus public health emergency.   • New York State has waived the 7-day waiting period for workers in shared work programs to claim unemployment insurance for those that have been put out of work by COVID-19
