COLLEGE & COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP OPPOSES ROLLBACK OF THE HARD-WON CRIMINAL REFORM MEASURES
NEW YORK, NY - Lawmakers have indicated they are reneging on the promises they made to the state and its people to uphold the legitimacy and dignity in our criminal legal system. College & Community Fellowship stands firmly in opposition to any roll backs.
“There can be no justice in New York State if every reform to our criminal legal system is constantly at stake. College & Community Fellowship fights for education for those inside because it is often a first chance, not a second. We know from research and from looking out our windows that the most well-resourced communities are the safest. Rather than condemning neighborhoods to cyclical crime, we must invest in our people. Cages do not increase safety but rather reduce care to our most vulnerable community members.”
